restorative dentistryRestoring Your Smile

If you have teeth that are in need of repair, or, if you are struggling with missing teeth, restorative dentistry today offers options that can help you smile again. We have helped many patients bring health and beauty back to their smile, there’s no such thing as "hopeless" when it comes to dentistry!

Rebuilding Teeth

If a tooth is chipped, broken or decayed, your dentist’s recommendation to repair it will be based on the size of the restoration and where the tooth is located.

  • For posterior or "back" teeth, if detected early, smaller cavities can be restored with composite fillings; these are available in multiple shades of "white" to match your natural teeth. Composite materials are also excellent for repairing small chips and gaps in front teeth.
  • A dental crown, inlay or onlay may be used to rebuild larger areas of damaged tooth surface. These restorations are designed by your doctor in coordination with our dental laboratory for a custom fit. Posterior crowns are often made with precious metals with a porcelain facing to make them strong enough for chewing.
  • Front teeth may be restored with all-porcelain crowns for a natural appearance. For minor flaws and blemishes in front teeth, cosmetic porcelain veneers are a great solution as they require less removal of natural tooth structure.

Replacement of Missing Teeth

With the exception of third molars (wisdom teeth), adult permanent teeth are designed to work together to chew and process food, each tooth has an important job! When a tooth is lost due to decay or trauma, neighboring teeth will shift and move to fill the empty space; this can cause problems with your bite and even lead to additional tooth loss over time. Whenever possible, we recommend replacement of necessary missing teeth.

Options to replace missing teeth include:

  • Dental Implants – these tiny replacement tooth "roots" are made of bio-compatible metal and placed by a dental specialist. Our dentists then restore the dental implant with a crown or dental bridge for a natural-looking result.
  • Dental Bridges – when implant replacement is not an option, a dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Existing teeth are used to attach and support this fixed dental appliance.
  • Complete and Partial Dentures. Dentures are removable appliances with "false teeth" to restore the function of natural teeth. Dentures today are often secured with dental implants to help them stay in place and function more naturally. Read more about Complete and Partial Dentures.
